If I could
I would strip away everything
And step naked into the wind
Letting it envelope me
As my hair thrashed around
The grass a soft blanket under my feet
Upon which I may walk
And I would gaze into the sky
And wonder at how massive it is
And cower
When I remember how small
When compared to it all
I wish I could dive into a raindrop
And follow it along its journey
Into the ground and then to the ocean
Back into the sky
As a cloud we could fly
And return to the Earth
A sense of rebirth
A renewal of spirit
If You Were a Flower
If you were a flower
Which would you be?
A Tulip, a Rose, or a Tiger Lily?
Would you be soft and fresh like baby’s breath?
Or rich and bold like a marigold?
Or maybe you wouldn’t be a flower at all
Maybe you’d be a tree that stands tall
Or maybe you’d be like the grass on the ground
Or one of the weeds, sprouting up all around
Is a weed any less, than a flower or tree?
And who even developed that hierarchy?
Can weeds not be beautiful, and roses not tough?
Can’t tree bark be smooth, but also be rough?
Trees can have flowers, and so can weeds
And flowers have thorns, and some even make seeds
So be a flower, or be nothing at all
Or be the grass, or a tree that stands tall
Or be everything
That you can possibly be
And when others look at you, you know what they’ll see
Not a flower, a weed, a blade of grass, or a tree
They will see the whole picture; they will see what is true
They will see every piece, they will see you.
Fear
The thing I most fear
Is quite simple you see
My mind is quite frightening
And that fear is of me
My thoughts can be beautiful
Radiant and bright
Or they can be dreadful
Dark without light
Sometimes I get lost
In the darkest of thoughts
My anxiety grows
I become restless, distraught
Rational is gone
And fear is what’s left
I try to break free
Of these harmful thoughts
But sometimes I’m trapped
In a snare I am caught
Where do you run?
When your thoughts are your fear
There is nowhere to hide
Nowhere to disappear
Eventually fear must be faced I suppose
Otherwise all it does is grow
So I plant my feet, and make brave my face
And I put that fear back in its place
Though I break free, it still remains there
I’m afraid I once again will get caught in its snare
The fact is, it is a part of me
And I will have to keep facing it, if I want to be free
Love is Boundless
Love is boundless
It is not acquainted with limits
I reach for the stars
And no matter how far
I can touch them
As they set my heart on fire
As does the touch of my desire
His hands are a world their own
His arms the place I call home
His eyes a doorway
Not just to his soul
But to everything
And in his smile
Is the greatest happiness
Every cell in my body becomes alive
And I thrive
My heart reverberating in love
I could laugh, I could cry
As my skin and bones melt away
And I spend every day
Our hearts bound in love
And every second we are apart
Is a blinding pain
Barely sane
I hold on
To that thread of love
And it transforms me
So when I see him again
And his eyes find mine
I know his love, his soul
For all time
We are bound to each other
Forever mine
Two Souls One Heart
Hearts beat not as two
But one
The soul rejoices when they are together
Hand in hand
And is in agony when they are separate
Distraught, lost
Until reunited
And then both are delighted
By the simple sight of each other
Intimacy is bliss
Each unique touch, each kiss
The feel of lips, touching your own
Arms holding you tight
Feeling like home
Looking into another’s eyes
And knowing
They know you
The way you know them
Every freckle, every curve
Memorized
And without try
When you cry
They make you smile
They make you laugh
You watch football with them
Even though you hate it
And they make you spaghetti
Because it’s your favorite
At the end of the day
Heaven is where they are
And the best thing in the world
Is being together
Two souls
One heart
No end
No start
Feather
The sun casts rays of golden light
And traces the clouds in pure delight
The wind roars wild taking the breath from me
As the waves break in cheerful jubilee
I let go and I am whisked away
The wind my companion, it wants to play
Over the waves and surf, I fly
Then right back into a sun filled sky
And down again towards the land
I just barely graze the sand
The wind bids farewell and sails away
And leaves me on the beach to stay
But not for long as the waves do rise
And soon enough in comes the tide
The water is curious and comes quickly greeting
Our encounter so fast it is fleeting
Then back again it comes to me
Asking if I would like to sail the sea
Soon enough I am whisked away
It is now the water who wants to play
The sun filled sky is no longer light
To the water, I say goodnight
As on the waves I gently sway
Taking in the last light of day
